[Savage Worlds] Distributed Workshop – Items of the Hidden Kingdom

August 6th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

Nevermet Press focuses on exclusively stat-free writing, letting bloggers stat out the monsters and items for them. Today, I’m writing Savage Worlds stats for some of the items in today’s post, Items of the Hidden Kingdom.

None of these items are priced, assuming that the player would find these in their battles against the Hidden Kingdom.

Magical relics have long been key in the pursuit of, or defense against, undeath. From simple holy symbols fortified with divine blessings to cowls that allow the undead to walk amongst the living, a great number of magic items deal exclusively with those horrid beings that refuse to go gently into the ever-after. Below are a few such items inspired by the Red Monks of Von Brandt.

- Matt Cici, Items of the Hidden Kingdom

Beggar’s Coin

When one of these coins are pressed tight into the palm of a hungry man, the hunger slips away; when these gold slips are dropped into the cup of a cold man, warmth slips over him.

When a Beggar’s Coin is pressed firmly into your palm, you immediately recover from all Fatigue. In addition, the coin leaves a bit of residual magic in your body, giving you a +2 bonus to your next check to avoid Fatigue.

The charm on this coin only works once; should you attempt to use it a second time, nothing will happen.

Gold Oak Masks

Though often chipped and worn, these oak masks possess a soothing magical aura about them that puts others at ease…

When wearing this mask, your character has a +2 bonus to Persuasion checks. This bonus has no effect on anyone who has the Arcane Resistance edge.

This item also negates the effect of the Attractive or Very Attractive edges, as well as the Ugly hindrance, and any other edges or hindrances that affect the appearance of a character’s face.

Soul Strength Armor

The links, which are still as strong as any other suit, have been blessed with the divine and fortify the wearer’s courage and wards the soul from harm.

The Soul Strength Armor offers 2 points of protection against attacks targeting the torso and arms. In addition, the charm adds a +2 bonus to a Fear check whenever your character confronts the undead. In the event that your character fails the Fear check anyway, subtract 2 from the roll to check the effect of fear (anything less than 1 is considered a 1).
