[Character Spotlight] Hiding in Plain Sight

July 31st, 2009 · 4 Comments · Game Material, RPG Bloggers Network

I’m going to take a brief intermission from The Savage World Ends With You to cover something else Savage that I’ve been given the opportunity to cover: Strike Force 7.

Strike Force 7 is a supplement for Savage Worlds that lets you play in a Saturday morning cartoon style military squad against a group of terrorist called Skorpians. Because SF7 tends towards more powerful characters (lending great to the action feeling), I decided to create a character for the system – Nick Savage.

This is my first real Savage character; although I’ve made a couple just playing around with the system, I have yet to actually invest any time into one. So I would really appreciate all the feedback I could get, both positive and negative.

Nick Savage

Everyone knows that the best place to hide someone is to put them in plain sight. Nobody knows this better than the Nick Savage.

When Strike Force 7 first went public, they received many applications, both inside and out of the military. Most of those outside of the military were rejected, not up to the high standards SF7 had. Nick Savage was one of the few who was.

Immediately after leaving training, Savage became the poster boy of Strike Force 7, the pinnacle of all that Americans could achieve. It worked; not only because he was highly skilled, but because he had an undeniable charm that none could resist. It was this potent combination that drew the attention of the Furies, the secret division within SF7 known only to a select few as America’s own angels of vengeance. They realized that they could leverage his popularity to their advantage. After all, who would expect the most well-known Strike Force operative to be part of a secret organization.

For the past few years it has worked well for the Furies. He has played a key role in many of the major operations that have helped to bring Skorpion down to its current, disorganized state, and even managed to capture a whole supply of Anubis Power Suits while he was there. The services he has done for his country would go down in history if it weren’t for the fact that it was all top secret.

But the longer he keeps the charade up, the greater of a toll it takes on Savage. Though committed to his duty as Fury, he longs to be able to spend more time with his family, including his newborn son, Alex, and he worries what would happen to them if Skorpian were able to find out where they were.
