DLC, such as the recently announced Fallout 3 DLC, is a great way for developers to provide more content to players after the game is already on store shelves, but it creates a problem for retailers – how are they supposed to make any money if the game is being sold online?
Well, Gamestop has got a solution. According to the online store, Gamestop is offering a download code for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and the Damned. For $19.99 (price not yet confirmed by Rockstar), you can purchase a download code for the DLC and a two-sided poster from Gamestop.
I, for one, think this is a brilliant idea. Why go through all of the trouble of loading up the Xbox Live Marketplace and downloading the game, when you can instead go to Gamestop, buy the card, drive back home, load up the Xbox Live Marketplace and then download the game. Or better yet, order it online and wait for it to finally ship, and then download the game. It makes things a lot easier on the end user.
Seriously, though, Gamestop, what are you thinking?
