No Internet for You!

Were you looking forward to Fable II or LittleBigPlanet’s online modes? Well, you’re out of luck, as both of these games won’t ship with their highly anticipated online gameplay. Instead, the modes will be rolled out in a patch a few weeks after their respective games’ release.

Fable II, which was intended to have a co-op mode where a friend could travel around your world, will instead only ship with single player, local co-op, and an online mode where you can trade items with your friends over the internet. LittleBigPlanet, which was highly touted for its online cooperative level creation, will instead only ship with single player and a local creation mode.

Although this is better than the developers leaving the online modes out entirely, I can’t help but feel that they are taking advantage of the patching system to rush their games out the door, incomplete. Hopefully these two games aren’t the start of the much larger trend.
