Taking pictures is about to get a whole lot more interesting, with the help of a new camera from Fujifilm. Using the new “Fujifilm Finepix Real 3D” system, you will soon be able to take pictures in real 3D.
Cameras using the Real 3D system will have two lenses that are between 6 and 7 inches apart (about the distance between an average person’s eyes). As soon as you take the picture, a special chip in the camera will calculate important metrics such as zoom, exposure, and focus, blend the two images together, and display it on the built-in LCD in full 3D. Already the technology is developed to the point where someone can easily take 3D pictures and movies, and Fujifilm hopes to have HD video as well by the time the camera is released next year.
Also exciting is the fact that Fujifilm will be incorporating their 3D technology into digital picture frames and even photo prints. Hopefully, this will be the first of many promising 3D cameras to come out.
